To this end, some Memoranda of Understanding on illegal traffic at sea were signed respectively between the Office of the Director General of Customs and the Maritime Information Merger Center, and between the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Finances and Budget, on April 21 at the CCI Ivato.<\/p>\n\n<p>Customs offense at sea causes up to $ 500 million of lost revenue each year for the Government, said Mr Eric Narivony Rabenja, Director General of the Malagasy Customs. Addressing this requires a massive fighting strategy, building on the exchange of information and real-time monitoring of maritime activities so as to anticipate threats and strengthen control operations.
