Congratulations and keep up the good work!&#8221; These are the words by Mwana James Musonda, Team Leader and Regional Coordinator for the COMESA project to measure the time required to clear goods through customs during his visit on April 12 and 13.<\/p>\n\n<p>The COMESA selected ten countries, including Madagascar, to carry out this study on the clearance time. While the TRS methodology advocated by the World Customs Organization is mainly based on the dissemination of a questionnaire to the respondents, the COMESA expert did not hesitate to endorse the use of the current system by the customs, more specifically the Observatory of Customs Clearance Time, for this purpose. He said countries like Japan use the same method. The purpose of the event was to measure the time required to fully clear the (import and export). But it must also allow identifying any problematic steps and implementing measures to facilitate the procedure and reduce delays.
