In accordance with the provisions of the Decree 2004-041, the import and export of animals, products or foodstuffs of animal origin, seeds, fodder and foodstuffs intended for animal feeding require a sanitary authorization from the Veterinary Services Department.
In this way, the Veterinary Services Department or the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, in its Public Notice No. 81/19-MAEP/SG/DGE/DSV issued on July 22nd 2019, informs all importers of foodstuff of animal origin that as from August 5th 2019, the use of the MIDAC module will be mandatory and consequently, only the products whose request for authorisation were approved in MIDAC will be considered for customs clearance. Regarding the import of foodstuff intended for animal feeding, the pilot phase will be launched on August 5th 2019. The customs clearance of these products shall therefore be contingent upon presentation of an “Approved” MIDAC authorization for pilot importers. Other importers will continue to use the printed form of the sanitary import authorization.
